Pantone, Inc. took a leap from pretty in pastel to zesty and fresh in its Color of the Year choice for 2017. Pantone 15-0343 “Greenery” is quite a contrast from last year’s “Rose Quartz and Serenity”, which consisted of two combined hues that introduced a sense of calm and peace to this year.
“Greenery” first made its appearance during Fashion Week in September where it was among the staples of the Spring wardrobe must-haves. It didn’t take long for color experts to suggest we’d all be green with envy soon over this quickly popular color.
Greenery brings with it the life and energy found in nature. As the temps become cooler, and we are surrounded by barren trees, it reminds of us of those first signs of spring, as the first buds on the trees begin to bloom.
Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, describes it best, “Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment. Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalize, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another, and a larger purpose.”
Reassurance, rejuvenation, revitalization, reconnection: What better notions to incorporate into our living environments at home and at work? But decorating with such a bold, bright color may be challenging for some of us. Do not fret- we have a few suggestions for how to incorporate Greenery into your life.
Go all-in with Greenery on every wall! First impressions may leave you thinking this would be too much revitalization in one room, but it’s as soothing as a beautiful spring day. Consider incorporating the colors of nature into the accents of the room, like tans such as Sheepskin and Bone Brown, or more greens like Moss or Willow Bough to keep the room bright, yet mature!
Finish off those furniture pieces in Greenery. As much as we love the more traditional choices for painted furniture, like grays, blacks, and blues, this is such a fresh surprise that we can’t help but embrace it as well! Consider pairing your new green furniture with Orion Blue or last year’s Colors of the Year, Serenity, and Rose Quartz for a fun and playful contrast!
Not ready to jump in with Greenery? Simply bring nature into your home! Stay true to the name and bring in plants like succulents and ferns. Adding green plants to a stark white room is a statement piece as strong as the traditional black and white. Speaking of black and white, Greenery goes great with that time-tested pairing!
Or…Pair Greenery with nature itself! Go bold and paint your front door with Greenery! This color works with so many other colors that there’s a good chance it will pair well with your exterior finishes. It seems to put Eiseman’s idea of reconnection to practice!

As they say, Virginia is for Lovers. We think you’ll love all that our community of Castleton offers its homeowners
To all of our friends (near and far), we wanted to take a moment and share this letter from our owner, Clark Stewart, to our team! We hope this encouraging note will give you a true glimpse into the culture of our company. We’re all so thankful to be working for a family-owned business that celebrates our achievements, both company-wide and individually. During this time of Thanksgiving, we are so grateful to be a part of our Eastwood family!
The Corriher family recently moved into their new Eastwood Home in Walnut Creek. During the build, they relied on a new app being used by our team that allowed them to stay up to date on the progress of their home while they were living five hours away.
