Lake Norman State Park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts – with fishing, campgrounds, biking, hiking, and even more activities all in one place.
Covering about 17 miles of its northern shoreline, Lake Norman State Park includes Park Lake, which is separated from the larger lake by a dam. This separation means the park can offer quiet fishing and swimming to its visitors.
Campgrounds at Lake Norman State Park include cabins, tent sites, trailer and RV sites, showers, firewood, and many of the other things you’d need for a successful camping trip. Fish from the shore in Park Lake, or rent a boat and increase your chances of catching one of the many different types of bass swimming in Lake Norman.
The Itusi Trail at Lake Norman State Park is one of the most popular biking trail systems in the region with nearly 31 miles for bike riders to enjoy. Whatever your outdoorsy activity of choice may be, rest assured you can probably find it at Lake Norman State Park!

There are many options when it comes to restaurants on Lake Norman, but we’d recommend one with a lakefront view. Take your pick between the trendy and nautical-themed Hello, Sailor, North Harbor Club with its fine cuisine and watercrafts mounted from the ceilings, or Port City Club’s large covered and heated deck with pasta and bread made fresh daily. Visit any of these restaurants by car or by boat and watch the sunset over Lake Norman.
