Every year around this time, social media is taken by storm with Facebook posts, tweets, retweets, and pins on Pinterest sharing the big news. Surprisingly, it has nothing to do with Jolly Ol’ Saint Nick!

Instead, ‘tis the Season for Sherwin Williams to announce its favorite color for the New Year!

The Sherwin Williams 2015 Color of the Year is called Coral Reef (SW 6606). The paint experts at Sherwin Williams describe it as vivacious, upbeat, and optimistic. We describe it as bright, casual, fun, and perfect for any room in your home!

“Coral Reef celebrates a time of renewal and is the perfect mélange of pink, orange, and red that can be used to liven up a space,” according to the Sherwin Williams team.

We love that the team described this as a time of renewal because we think it embodies the spirit of spring. So in a few weeks, as you take down those silver, gold, and red Christmas ornaments covered in glitter, track down the last Reindeer in your house and box him up, and start to consider all that 2015 has to offer, we think you should also consider how a fresh coat of paint in your home could bring with it new creativity and new energy to your home.

Vintage, cottage, contemporary, or traditional, Coral Reef will work with whatever your design scheme may be. As you can see in the photo above from Sherwin Williams, Coral Reef can be used beautifully as an accent wall or paired with any variety of colors as a perfect accent color. As the popularity of gray continues to grow in the color schemes of households everywhere, this color will complement it nicely. Yet, it’s versatile enough to work with the classic beige.

The excitement surrounding the 2015 Color of the Year has resulted in inspiring designs and accent pieces that each feature Coral Reef. If you need more inspiration, you can visit the Sherwin-Williams site to find colors that will coordinate beautifully with Coral Reef.  These handy palette suggestions will help you to design the room you’ve been craving, whether you are looking for a space that is “energizing” or “relaxing.”  There’s even a color visualizer from Sherwin Williams!

Once you’re finished pairing Coral Reef with the colors of your choice, you will have a new room for a new year! Just think of the possibilities!

So now we ask the big question:  How and where do you want to use Coral Reef to create a new look in your home? Let us know! Would you rather use the “Energize It” or “Relax It” palette in your space?
